Two of My Favourite People

It's true, I have a few favourite people. But I think you'll forgive me once you see how cute they are:

I have been blessed with a job that I love and that loves me back! ;) Not only do I get paid to do what I love, I also have been trained in the process for my time in Uganda....

...which by now, that's only 23 days away...

And I'm going to miss these boys. I have grown to love them as if they were my own kids, and they affectionately have named me "BobBob." ("Robin" is a difficult word for one-year-olds.) We have been on adventures to the park to feed the ducks, we have gone to the zoo to see the tigers, we have sat and looked at pictures of dogs for hours ("Dog!"), and we have played outside until we all had farmer's tans. Today I had the privilege of bringing them to my parents' house, where my dad has a couple of horses and a dog. The boys took turns riding the horse with my dad while I took pictures; and while one was riding, the other one would exclaim "Dog!"

Every time I nanny for a family, I wonder if my heart can expand just a little bigger to love another baby. And every time, it does. I think maybe that's one way we are made in the image of God. Our hearts are capable of loving so much, and they never seem to reach a limit. So although I am moving around the world to work with other babies, I could never "replace" these two little men. Instead, by the grace of God, my heart will grow enough to fit in enough love for fifty more babies. Maybe more.

By the grace of God, I'll never reach maximum capacity. I pray my heart expands bigger and bigger. I hope yours does, too.

I love you, my little men! My little stink bugs! My punkin and my sugar boo! Hehe.

And to the two precious ladies who have the privilege of being the mothers of these boys, thank you for entrusting me with your children. I've been so honoured as you have allowed me to play the role of a "second mom," and I have learned so much from both of you. You are blessed, as I'm sure you know, and I am excited to see the mighty men of God that these lovable little chunkycheeks grow up to become.

Love you all.

Happy Mother's Day to You!

I'd love the opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Mother's Day, but especially to a woman very dear to me....

My Momma!

My momma is incredible. She has been a stay-at-home mom all of my life, dedicating herself to raising my brother and me. She also home-schooled us, and she encouraged us at young ages to pursue the things we loved to learn. So my brother and I became ball-players and ballerinas, secret agents and astronauts, archeologists and chefs, chemists and novel writers, and my mom was encouraging (and entertained, I'm sure) all the time. She gave us a hunger for learning and then fed that hunger.

Now that Chase and I are grown, Momma is still our encourager to pursue the things we love. She came with me to get my vaccines for Uganda and has helped me plan the details of my journey that I wouldn't have figured out on my own. (My mom is also known as the Vacation Nazi due to her special eye for details in trip-planning.) She has encouraged my brother in his steps toward obtaining his pastoral license, and has been an example of a Godly woman all our lives.

She's quick to help solve problems, funny, the best to discuss books with, and her chicken pot pie and red beans and rice are the best things you'll ever put in your mouth. She shares my love for chocolate and all things girly, and is a great date for shoe shopping. She has so much wisdom to offer, but is quick to listen before she does. She's just amazing.

Momma, here's to you! You're the best, and I love you!
